Knotel Co-Hosts Nasdaq LGBT Leadership Conference
We fly our flags every day at Knotel, but never more than during Pride Month. This year we were thrilled to co-host Nasdaq’s second annual LGBT Leadership Conference in New York City — a full day of presentations covering a variety of topics impacting the LGBTQIA+ community, including intersectionality in the workplace, LGBT leadership, and the state of HIV.
In planning the program for the latter half of the day, Kevin Hoderny and Valentina Rizzati, co-leaders of the OUT@Knotel Employee Resource Group, wanted to focus on authenticity in the workplace and the evolution of gender: “we wanted to bring the Knotel ethos to the table — while our core values are written on the wall, we also live them fully every day, both at work and outside.”
The afternoon kicked off with a speech from Knotel CEO Amol Sarva, who spoke to what it means to be an outsider and why authenticity is crucial in shaping a growing company. Amol’s speech was followed by an unforgettable panel discussion moderated by filmmaker Lauren Lubin and featuring actor Nico Tortorella from “Younger,” Jodie Patterson, a well-known activist and inspiring mother, and Tiq Milan, a leading voice for transgender equality. The panelists drew from their own experiences: coming out as nonbinary, being the parent of a trans child, and living as a trans man, respectively, for what was an insightful and moving conversation that didn’t leave a dry eye in the house.
Rounding off the day with happy hour drinks, we were joined by drag sensations Brita Filter and KizhaCarr. If you’ve never seen a drag show on the 10th floor terrace of a building overlooking Times Square, well, there’s always next year.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this fantastic event, and happy Pride. Please enjoy the photos below.
